Mac OS X: How to resolve the messages "Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/rastertoescpll" and "'Filter' failed"

A new version of the Epson Printer Software Update has been made available via Apple's Software Update utility to resolve the error "Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/rastertoescpll". Alternatively, you can download the Epson Printer Software Update from the below link:

If you have installed the Epson Printer Software Update and are still experiencing the error message, please try the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Open the Apple menu then System Preferences.
  2. Open Print & Fax / Print & Scan and then click Sharing Preferences....

  3. You may find that the Computer Name field is blank, this can cause the error message displayed. Enter something into the field, e.g. John's Computer.

  4. Press the back button and try printing a document.
