GHS Compliant Label Printing

Produce fully-compliant chemical labels that meet GHS standards and easily update them when needed.

GHS LABELLING

What is GHS?

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) is an internationally standard, managed by the United Nations, that was set up to replace the assortment of hazardous material classification and labelling schemes previously used around the world. This worker safety initiative provides chemical handlers with important hazard information.

Chemical manufacturers must reclassify their chemicals using the GHS standardised classification criteria.

People of all ages, from children to the elderly, using many different languages and alphabets, belonging to various social groups, including illiterates, come into contact with potentially dangerous products (chemicals, pesticides, etc.). GHS has created a single international hazard warning communication system using standardised colour pictograms.

GHS label challenge

  • Every chemical produces unique hazards.

  • Each hazard type will now require a unique colour pictogram.

  • The number of pictograms will often vary from label to label.

  • The number of pictograms must match the number of hazards. No extra symbols or blanks are allowed.

  • Using colour pre-printed labels could greatly increasе costs and reducе production efficiencies.

The on-demand solution

With Epson’s industrial-strength ColorWorks color-on-demand printers, the need for pre-printed labels is virtually eliminated. Simply load plain labels and print the required hazard pictograms and information for each chemical.

  • The need for pre-printed labels is virtually eliminated.

  • With ColorWorks, simply load the plain labels and print.
